Attorney Recruiting and Development Assistant
Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is seeking a full-time assistant in the Portland office for the Recruiting & Professional Development department. This position is responsible for general administrative support to the Director of Attorney Recruiting and Development and the Manager of Attorney Recruiting and Development. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for all attorney recruiting (new and lateral attorney hiring and Summer Associate Program) and attorney professional development (training, performance evaluations, and advancement). Successful candidates will have strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines with various members of the firm, proficiency in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheets, and a high degree of familiarity with the internet. Event planning skills, the ability to work in a collaborative environment, superior attention to detail and a proactive working style are a must. The ideal candidate must have excellent writing and project management skills. A Bachelor's degree is preferred or a combination of education and experience that ensures the ability to perform the job.

Stoel Rives LLP, a leading law firm with nearly 400 attorneys operating out of seven states, has an immediate opening for a Professional Development and Diversity Manager. We seek a highly motivated, strategic thinker with proven collaboration and organizational skills.
This position provides strategic and administrative support for the professional development of our attorneys by designing and delivering training programs, coaching attorneys, implementing evaluation processes and supporting diversity and inclusion programs. This position works closely with attorneys of all levels, firm leadership and administrative staff. The successful candidate must be able to build and maintain positive relationships and channels of communication with attorneys and staff throughout the firm.
This is an excellent opportunity for a successful attorney who wants to transition his or her law practice into a related field with new challenges and opportunities. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Professional Development and Diversity. This position can be based in either our Seattle or our Salt Lake City office.
Job Description:
· Provide strategic and administrative support for the firm’s annual and mid-year associate, staff and of counsel attorney evaluation and compensation processes. Assist in maintaining excellent attorney performance standards, policies and procedures.
· Help plan and implement the firm’s annual training programs, including Boot Camp, Universal Curriculum, Preparing for Partnership and New Partner Training.
· Bring or build an awareness of market trends and industry standards affecting law firm talent management and lawyer training.
· Assist in managing and implementing the firm’s attorney integration and mentoring programs.
· Provide strategic and administrative support for the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, affinity groups and related programs and initiatives. Design and manage internal and external communications for diversity programs and events (portal, website, newsletters). Facilitate sponsorships of diversity-related events and organizations.
· Draft client submissions regarding diversity and inclusion programs. Complete diversity-related surveys and award applications.
· Maintain active membership in relevant talent management and diversity organizations.
· Collaborate with recruiting and business development professionals on diversity-related initiatives, business development training goals and attorney integration.
· Provide strategic and administrative support for the Associates Committee. Monitor the professional environment for associates; serve as a liaison between associates and firm leadership.
· Provide strategic and administrative support for the Community Outreach Committee. Design and implement leadership resources.
· Serve as the firm-wide resource for all training and attorney development issues.
· Manage attorney departure processes and conduct exit interviews. Consult and coordinate closely with the Director of Human Resources regarding performance, discipline, termination and discrimination issues.
· Assist in developing and managing budgets.
Requirements:
· J.D. and at least three years as a practicing attorney in a law firm strongly preferred. Other candidates with at least five years’ experience in a professional services firm with proven success designing and implementing strategic training programs will be considered.
· Ability to organize and maintain a significant number of diverse projects with multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong administrative and project management skills.
· Proven initiative, strategic thinking, leadership and attention to detail on all issues related to professional development and diversity.
· Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of highly educated individuals with strong opinions and varying priorities and goals.
· Creative thinker with an approachable and positive demeanor. Exercises diplomacy, tact and candor.
